Directed along the Korean Demilitarized Zone, the film is about North Korean Sergeant Lim Gyu-nam, who, disgusted by the government, plot a daring defection to South Korea. His escape is treacherous as he is pursued by State Security department officer and child friend Major Li Hyeon-sang. The film broaches topics of loyalty, freedom, and survival.
