Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise), a US Navy test pilot, gets called back to Top Gun, to train a new generation of aviators for a dangerous mission. One of them is Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (Miles Teller), the son of Goose, the long-dead best friend of Maverick. Maverick rekindles past traumas with his reluctance to confront Rooster to train the pilots for an almost impossible mission, while wrestling with some introspective views on guilt and legacy. He also rekindles his old flame with Penny (Jennifer Connelly), who ultimately becomes a heavy emotional anchor in the narrative. There is a compilation of story threads propelling to an extremely fun action mission, and facilities to torture the skill, bravery and loyalty of the pilots to the maximum.
