
Griselda
Griselda (2024) is a limited series from Netflix which examines the life of Griselda Blanco, a Colombian drug lord, who was an important player in the cocaine business in Miami, in the 1970s and ’80s. Griselda was released on January 25, 2024. It stars Sofía Vergara in the titular role, with Andrés Baiz directing. Based on true events, the series depicts a dramatized narrative of the trajectory of Blanco over the following decade of drug violence and crime. The story follows the trajectory of Griselda Blanco, from Medellín, to the “Godmother” of the Miami drug universe, while she navigates being a committed mother to a callous businesswoman, through the underground world and her family. The series goes beyond the how ambition led to power and what came at a cost to Blanco’s life of crime.
