Freaky Tales is a 2025 anthology film from writers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (who both directed Half Nelson and Captain Marvel) which offers action, comedy, and a blend of four distinct but related stories in one film. Freaky Tales takes place in Oakland, California in 1987, and pays tribute to the unique subcultures in the city and the down and dirty style of B-movies from the 1980s. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2024 and was released in U.S. theaters on April 4, 2025.
