The film is about Lainy Newton (Amy Schumer), a school teacher (in her 40s) living in Brooklyn who feels envious of her best friend and co-worker, Kate (Jillian Bell) who tells her she is pregnant. In a moment of fleeting impulsivity, Lainy wears a fake baby bump, pretending to be pregnant, and is caught up in a wild, comedic, and chaotic ride. Lainy meets Josh (Will Forte), a man who could be the love of her life, through her elaborate make-believe situation. The themes in the film are about friendship, social expectations, and the crazy things we can do to succumb to these measures to feel contentment.
