The Platform 2 continues Planet 9’s exploration of social injustice, authoritarianism and the human spirit in flux. Although the film attempts to dispense with some original’s allegorical narrative, critics have suggested it fails by rudderless direction and lacks personality. According to The Guardian, “the sequel plunges straight into heated discussion of law and economics” but has “a narrative hellfire”. Or as Decider harshest words on the film, its “excessively convoluted story-line” serving only “to fail a bit more in its attempt at something larger than the thing itself”​.
