The Six Triple Eight
The Six Triple Eight (2024) is a World War II drama film directed by Tyler Perry that celebrates the not-so-well-known but impressive history of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion—the only all-Black, all-female unit stationed in Europe during World War II. The film stars Kerry Washington as Major Charity Adams, who leads a battalion to sort out a three-year mail backlog for American troops. Despite the racial and gender prejudice, the women accomplished the mission within 90 days, enhanced morale, and were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal years later.
